What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD), is one of more than 85 known cannabinoids secreted by the cannabis flower. Unlike Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not create the psychoactive “high” marijuana is known for, while still offering a range of benefits.

How does CBD work?

Plant-derived cannabinoids imitate the ones our own bodies naturally produce, called endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids promote the body’s own process of self-regulation in what is called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

Found in all vertebrates, the ECS is a biological system throughout the body that maintains homeostasis; “the maintenance of a stable internal environment despite fluctuations in the external environment”.

What is the difference between marijuana and hemp?

Hemp and marijuana are both varieties of the same species, Cannabis Sativa, but differ greatly in chemical composition and usage. Hemp is classified as containing 0.3% or less THC.

Hemp Seed Oil  (aka: Hemp Oil) VS.  Hemp Extract (aka: CBD Oil) What's The Difference?

In the simplest sense, CBD oil is made from extracting oil from the flowers, stalks and leaves of the cannabis plant for more powerful health benefits, while hemp seed oil (commonly referred to as just “hemp oil”) is derived only from the much less potent seeds.

CBD Oil for Pain In Dogs

From cancer pain to arthritis to seizures to anxiety, recent years have seen the rise of CBD products for managing your dog’s health. How do they really work, and what are the best options for your dog? Just like humans, animals also have cannabinoid receptors primarily in the brain and central nervous system, making up what is known as the Endocannabinoid System.
For mammals, this system helps regulate inflammation, pain, motor control, skin condition, appetite, aggression, anxiety, and neurological disorders. CBD  binds to endocannabinoid receptors, causing a long-lasting response with non-intoxicating effects.

Our 300MG Tincture is an ideal starting strength for dogs. The natural, nutty taste makes this tincture an easy & tasty addition to your pup’s favorite treats or meals.

Here are some suggestions for dosing, but you’ll have to see how your pet reacts and then dose accordingly.

As always, follow your Vet’s recommendations, but general treatment guidelines are:

  • Dogs under 10 pounds: 8 drops daily (roughly 2mg)

  • Dogs 10-25 pounds: 16 drops daily (roughly 4mg)

  • Dogs 25-50 pounds: 24 drops daily (roughly 6 mg, roughly ½ of a dropper

  • Dogs over 50 pounds: 36 drops daily (roughly 8mg, roughly ¾ of a dropper

What are the effects and side effects of CBD?

How can I choose the right product to take?

That's a strictly personal choice. There are various ways in which your body can process and absorb CBD. You can eat it, you can take it sublingually, you can apply it topically and even vape it.

We find the most effective absorption to be sublingual, applied with a dropper under the tongue, and held for 30 seconds or so.  If you don't care for the natural, nutty taste, our Softgel capsules may be the answer.  Only you will know how your body reacts to different delivery methods and what feels best.

WHAT IS FULL-SPECTRUM CBD OIL?

Full-spectrum CBD oil might be considered the most “natural” form of CBD. This type of CBD oil utilizes the entire plant in the extraction process: the stalk, leaves, flowers and all other plant matter. It distills not only CBD from this process, but also other flavonoids, terpenes, and fatty acids.

The beneficial compounds in full-spectrum CBD oil work together in what is known as the entourage effect. In the simplest sense, these compounds working together provide more benefits than if they were to be isolated and taken on their own. With full-spectrum varieties, a trace amount of THC may still remain (though always less than the 0.3% amount required by the Farm Bill).

WHAT IS BROAD-SPECTRUM CBD OIL?

Broad-spectrum CBD oil is similar to full-spectrum CBD oil but with one major difference: the THC is completely removed.

This may occur after extracting a full-spectrum CBD, or manufacturers might isolate all compounds first and then combine them for different purposes. Since this process removes some compounds from the oil, it may not produce the same entourage effect and benefits that occur with full-spectrum oils.

WHAT IS CBD ISOLATE OIL?

CBD isolate oil is exactly what it sounds like: it consists of isolated CBD oil molecules only.

No terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, or other beneficial cannabinoids are included in CBD isolate oil.
